Yesterday once again SAMVOZA had the opportunity to attend and lay a wreath at the SAP COIN memorial grounds.
Thank you Martin and iLana Loubser who organised the Service.
Was well attended by various SAPS units and Veteran groups.
SAMVO awarded Markus the K9 with a medal for his service and his Owner handler with a Coin. Video enclosed.

Memorial Service of 61 Mechanised Battalion Group Veterans Association.
Held at the Ditsong National Museum for Military History on 20 August 2022.
Background Info:
61 Mechanised Battalion Group existed for just 27 years, but in that short lifetime it participated in no less than 37 large-scale actions and operations, earning a well-deserved name as one of the finest fighting units in South Africa’s military annals.
The Ratel, with Serial number 0001,
Was baptised after the founder en co developer as “Sarge”. Having it’s final resting place at the Military Museum wherw it will be maintained and looked after.
Well attended by various guests of honour and veteran military organisations.
Brig. Genl (Ret.) T. Savides, SM acting as Functioanary accepted thr General Salute.

@ The SADF Wall of Remembrance, Voortrekker Monument, Pretoria.
The wall was inaugurated on 25 October 2009, and memorial services have been held annually since then. The names of more than 2500 people who died in service appear on the Wall. When and if you do visit The Wall, note that the names of approximately 800 soldiers that died during operations had been marked with an asterisk.
Guests of honour were the next of kon os Soldiers who have died in service.
